Minor ailments scheme

Ever thought about visiting your local pharmacy rather than your GP when you’re suffering from things like a slight temperature, head lice, sore throat or hayfever?

The Pharmacy First “Minor Ailments” scheme allows participating pharmacists to prescribe and help with certain simple problems that may not require a visit to your doctor. 

It is important to mention to the pharmacist that you are seeking treatment under the 'Minor ailments scheme' in order to access this valuable service.

Please note: that if you don't normally need to pay for your prescriptions, any treatment given will be provided at no cost.

• Indigestion / Heartburn (from 6 years)
• Diarrhoea (from 12 years)
• Haemorrhoids (from 18 years)
• Scabies
• Sore Throat
• Nasal Congestion (infant)
• Verruca / Wart
• Temperature
• Headache / Earache
• Hay Fever
• Soft Tissue Injury
• Athletes’ Foot
• Cold Sores
• Contact Dermatitis (from 10 years)
• Head Lice
• Insect Bites & Stings
• Dry Skin
• Nappy Rash
• Vaginal Thrush (from 16-60 years)
• Eczema
• Conjunctivitis (from 2 years)
• Ear Wax
• Threadworm (from 2 years)
• Allergy / Rash
• Oral Thrush
• Migraine
• Acne
