All nurse and HCA appointments should be booked in advance. We will do our best to squeeze you in for urgent appointments but this may not always be possible.

The practice nurse carries out a wide range of treatments including:

Smear tests

Depo Provera injections 

Other specialist injections including prostap, zolodex, denosumab that have been previously prescribed by hospital consultants

Spirometry

Asthma, COPD, diabetes and other chronic disease annual reviews, NHSHealth checks, smoking cessation advice and dietary advice

Diabetic foot checks

Travel vaccinations (please book these in plenty of time  - ideally 6-8 weeks before travelling)

- Some vaccinations are available free of charge but others, such as Hep B, are not available on the NHS and will be charged for. It takes 6 months to fully complete the Hep B course and you then need to have a blood test to check immunity. Other vaccinations such as Yellow Fever can only be given at certified travel clinics but if you complete a travel form (download from the website or collect from reception), the nurse will advise what vaccinations you will need depending on where you are travelling to.

Shingles and Pneumococcal vacinations

Baby and children routine immunisations

The HCA also carries out a wide range of treatments including:

Blood tests and BP monitoring

ECGs

Contraceptive pill checks

B12 injections
