If possible please try to telephone reception before 10am if you feel you require a home visit. A doctor will phone you back to ascertain the nature of the problem.
Home visits are ONLY AVAILABLE for patients who are bed bound because of illness or disability. They cannot be requested simply due to lack of transport, or because you find attending the surgery 'difficult' as such requests will be refused. Accordingly, patients who are able to attend hospital clinic appointments will be expected to attend the surgery. It REMAINS THE GP's DECISION AS TO WHETHER A HOME VISIT IS INDICATED OR NOT. This is because several patients can be seen in the Practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also much better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
There are local transport services available. FLAG, a council-run service offers advice and guidance regarding a wide range of health and social care services in Stockport. Call 0161 474 1042 www.stockportflag.org.uk
